Tobin's National Well Header File includes well coordinates and header data for over 2.2 million oil and gas wells covering 29 states which are precisely matched to the SuperBase® Digital Land Survey Data. Data elements include, but are not limited to, latitude/longitude (X/Y), API number, operator name, lease name, well number, total depth and status.
In Jeffersonian areas where the survey is very regular, wells are accurately spotted using proprietary calculation software from quartering descriptions or footage calls meticulously keyed into the database. If the software cannot calculate the well coordinates, which typically occurs with very irregular surveys, then a variety of public and private sources are consulted, and the well coordinates are created via automated, interactive well posting procedures.
Well locations in Texas and South Louisiana precisely match the Tobin SuperBase™ orthophoto-based survey data, and well locations in the other gulf coast states are matched to the quad-based data. Data contained in the files are obtained from public records, well reporting services and select private surveys. The Texas and South Louisiana locations are verified with orthophotos resulting from recent aerial photography and are precisely located and digitized via automated, interactive well posting procedures. Data elements are cross-checked with additional sources in order to ensure accuracy.
Updates, including permits and completions, are available monthly through Tobin's Well Coordinate Service (WCS) and permits are available weekly through Early Location Service (ELS). Using the Internet, Tobin has expanded well data accessibility in the form of a constant data stream of newly permitted wells that customers can download via FTP, on a weekly basis. ELS offers expedient delivery of the latest data available and greater flexibility in data delivery.
